According to the Twitter FAQ, “Twitter is for staying in touch and keeping up with friends no matter where you are or what you’re doing.” Wikipedia says, “Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates via SMS, instant messaging, email, to the Twitter website, or any one of the multitude of Twitter applications now available”. Twitter is then a powerful marketing & community building tool.
Twitter has a simple concept. It asks the question, “What are you doing?” and allows you to send an update to your followers. The updates is called tweets, and it is broadcasted through your followers. To be successfull in twitter, you need lots of followers.
How to Get Twitter Followers
You will have no followers when you first join Twitter. Your updates can only seen by people who are surfing the public timeline on the Twitter. You won’t get many followers from there. So how will you get followers? It’s simple. Just asked and they usually be your follower if your blog have good content. You can email your friend to be your follower, post in your blog, and forum.
Another way to gain follower is by following people. When you follow somebody on Twitter they will get an email telling them that you have followed them. The email will also have link to your profile. Human curiosity might bring that person to visit your profile and follow you back.
To have more followers, you need to keep updating your Twitter. They will follow you if you have good content. Participate in your niche, by joining forum for that niche. If you are in the internet marketing, you should be joining DigitalPoint, and SitePoint. Interact with people there and put your links in your signature.
Tips on Twitter
Setup Your profile from your settings page. Set the ‘More Info URL’ with your blog name. This link appears in your profile page and is a do-follow link. Twitter profiles tend to rank rather highly in Google so this counts as a quality backlink.
