The most popular control panel are cPanel, and Plesk. Control panels generally have two types of licensing schemes, a Yearly license and a One time license. Yearly licenses allow you to pay by year and receive full Support and Software Upgrades during the one year period. The One Time license is generally 2 to 3 times the yearly cost and allows the Hosting company to use the software for life.
When running your hosting business for International customer, you need to look at the Multi language support options in your control panel. Another important feature from a control panel is ease of use. This will help your customer a lot. cPanel is the fastest control panel. The main page has icons makes it easier to access all functionality in minimum steps. Plesk is slower than cpanel.

My web hosting control panel plays an important role within my company, it’s integrated with our intranet so employees can modify there mailboxes. I couldn’t find many products what would allow this, however one that did was FastAdmin by FastVision. You can use the standard version of FastAdmin or use the API and Toolkit like I did to integrate it into your own software, or even build your own control panel!
Ricky, That's quite a strong service offer by FastVision :)
Not sure if you have been looking around recently but their is a great control panel out there that promises to be very successful in the near future. Not only does it manage VPS and dedicated servers but it has a built-in billing system. Take a look at their demo and see what you think. http://www.hmspanel.com
I have been talking to some folks that know the developers and some neat features are being developed for future releases. Keep an eye on these guys.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tips, Mike!
