If your write your blog on various topics, you might have trouble getting Google to show your targeted AdSense on your blog. Targeting a specific adsense is very important, because some keyword have better payout. To show targeted AdSense, use Section Targeting. Google provide this to help you telling them which parts of your blog content is important, and which parts to ignore.
You can use the following HTML <!– google_ad_section_start –> and <!– google_ad_section_end –> between your important content. Here’s an example:
<!– google_ad_section_start –>
Stock Pick is the key of stock investing. With many stocks out there, we need to know which stock should we buy, and which stock we should sell. If you choose well, then you’ve reach glory, if you choose the wrong stock then might just say goodbye to your money.
<!– google_ad_section_end –>
You can also designate sections you’d like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:
<!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –>

Along with this one can filter keywords from adsense account as well. One can check which keywords/ads are getting maximum clicks and which are poor revenue generator and one can remove poor performing keywords.
One problem is inappropriate ads. You don’t want spammy junk advertised on your site. Google’s standards probably aren’t as high as yours. You can filter out 200 URLs, but in some industries that won’t be enough.
The stats Google supplies are inadequate. They’re easy to understand at a glance. However, they don’t tell you exactly which ads people are clicking on, or which keywords are involved. That’s frustrating.
Andy, I haven't tried this, yet, but now we can integrate Google Analytic with AdSense for tracking purpose... Maybe this can remedy some pain :) The best way is probably to target certain set of keywords by tagging a block of content with AdSense tags on this article.
It’s the first time when I heard about these tags. I’m curious to try this and see if something will change, my ads are not so relevant how I wish.
Robert, I've tested this and it does bring changes to some of my sites, but not on my others - It is said that the bot could take months to learn the tagged content on your site.
I have been trying to focus on which keywords that I’m using for Adsense because different keywords have better payout. Section Targeting is so relevant, so thanks for bringing that up.
