I wonder why some site have domain names that is really hard to remember. I think your advice on using (dot)com is correct. When I type a url, I always go for (dot)com before I try anything else.
i’m just thinking of starting a small business on internet, this is a great advice. good thing i haven’t started making my site yet. thanx!
Nice info, The best part i like when it says use keyword in domain. Its a much controversial thing, I saw few gurus says that it doesn’t effect but it does . My personal experience says that. one of my competitive site have keyword phrase in his domain it comes in page 2 and it’s only one page site with only 3 backlinks. when i researched on that site i found the importance of keyword in domain.
very long domains names tend to be directory websites which everybody want to avoid. thanks for that hyphen reminder. im almost want to make it a domain name of one of my products. Cheers!
Ethan, IMO, every keyword you place on your site or domain name has significant effect if used wisely - This include in domain name, like you said.
Domain name is very crucial. Completely agree with everything mentioned above. It helps immensely when Google and the search engines rank your site and gives browsers an insight into what your website is, or should be, about. It is something many people don’t really think too much about when they go to start a new site.
David, Thanks for the good word. To add, domain names stick to your business - It's not as easy as changing location like the off line counterparts do.
I totally agree with you. Domain name is quite important. Thank you so much for sharing me your great tips.
Thanks for visiting!
Good post – there’s always so much to consider when picking a domain name. So many people dive into it head first, without really giving too much thought into the long term repercussions. You’ve raised some good points in your post which people need to think about first, before the register!
Best suggestions are a name that works with your niche, perhaps suggests the topic, and is easy to type/hype.
another thing about domain names that if you can get the exact phrase in the domain on a .com(which is rare), then you will have a huge advantage over other sites. My jogging tips site shot to the number one position for about a week in google, then, unfortunitly got sent to the sandbox, but when it comes back, it will be number one again and I can start making money again
Nice, one thing to note is that, in the past, people used to advocate using symbols like “-” and “_” in a url. Some people argued that these symbols made your domain name more keyword rich and helped with SEO.
Using symbols in your URL will make the URL harder to type on a mobile decive (even an Iphone) the symbols are not accessible easily on the keyboard. They are, for the moment, best avoided.
Thank you for reminding people that domain names containing hyphens can be a double-edged sword. When I come across one, I immediately think the site is optimized only to take my money, even if this is not the case.
Hi Today there are many options for social media connections and to compromise with quality depends on the company. I think the most successful social media efforts are those that are driven by passionate people who love people and who truly want to change the way their organization operates, not by people
