Ping is a great tool for notifying that your blog has a new article. If you are using a WordPress for your blog, you can do this your admin: Go to Settings and then Writing. If you have “Update Services” at the bottom of you setting page. You can input the blog search engines, so when you publish a new post, it will notify them. Here’s my setting:
- http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
- http://pingoat.com/goat/RPC2/
- http://ping.feedburner.com
- http://www.bloglines.com/ping
- http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

Great list, pinging is an aspect of link building that gets missed too often.
Nice post. Pinging is a great and effective way to spread the word when you have fresh content on your blog. This is going to become more and more important in the future in my opinion.
