Regardless of the “going green” movement, companies should always strive to make things more cost-efficient, I think its smart for web hosting companies to try to more green, from a company stand point, it makes alot more sense. But… only go green if they can reduce their own costs as a result of doing it. It makes sense if you think about it =D

I agree with your idea & i am really happy to hear that people are starting to make effort to make earth a beautiful place. Human Nature always wanted to upgrade the life style, but we often forget that, upgrading the technologies can effect the Environment. Companies like Green Web hosting are really helping to create a good environment. It’s up to individuals to do efforts to save our Home and make it green.

I don’t think so… Going green is basically replacing the power source with “greener” alternatives (e.g. wind power) that cost approximately the same as the non-green alternatives…

The web host is expensive for some reason – Better support and reliability, perhaps?

I'm using Green web hosting from GreenGeeks. There's no real difference in terms of quality of web hosting, it simply helps the environment versus not helping it with a traditional web host. So why not go green!

I suspect they who pledge to go green do so by carbon offsetting – Operating as usual, with the conventional power, but purchasing carbon offsets to reduce their carbon footprints – Making them more environmentally friendly (and customer friendly …) Investing by themselves in green power is very, very expensive, IMO…
