The community is HUGE. Tons of people are using Joomla now and updates for modules come out every day. However, I'm not a big fan of the CMS itself. The interface isn't clear and there's just too much hacking involved if you want a custom design. I wish it was a a whole lot simpler. I'd recommend CMS Made Simple for smaller website.
