I got stuck with a sub-par host that charged 10 bucks a month. It was only recently that I discovered that there are many other hosts that are far superior and charge less (or nothing at all). For people starting out I would recommend Weebly. I have one site with them and it's been a dream. Easy to use, reliable, and free. You can buy domains through them, too. It's probably not ideal if I wanted to build something really big. But it suits me well for now. Reliable hosting is crucial. I got stuck with a sub-par host that charged 10 bucks a month.
