Green web hosting is one of those topics that I really enjoy myself, I actually spent about an hour on the phone with the folks at AISO about it.

They were great at sort of detailing what they did to ‘go green’. Quite transparent about the entire issue, unlike a few companies I won’t mention!

Obviously the more we do, the better. Every little bit helps & the fact that consumers are going in the ‘green direction’ is *great* but we’ve got to make sure that it’s not just a marketing gimmick and the companies behind these things are doing as much as they can too.

Green or not the main reason when choosing the host isn´t their values. I mean I would vote for the green if they are other vice similar but…

Of course it is green. All crocodiles are green I’ve heard that there are servers in Japan that consume 100% solar energy. It might be reality in USA and Europe in just a few years time.

It seems as if the people at Super Green Hosting really mean it and are believing in their project. Well, one way or another, we’ll all be forced -sooner or later- to do something for nature wellfare. And such projects seem to matter indeed.

This is interesting but so far I think it is 100% fluff. Are there any rules or guidelines to refer to when it comes to green hosting? Don’t get me wrong – it is good if they are really trying to make a difference but many companies just do greenwashing to attract new clients.

Going green is the need of the hour and we have to adopt it in every sphere of our life. Before reading this post I was not sure that I could be green savvy even in choosing my web hosting. So thanks and when I am looking for new web host, I will surely see the companies you recommended.

You could sleep easier knowing if Hostgator green their entire business operations – but honestly, not many green web hosting provider implementing green principles in their day-to-day operations.
